About Me
Jacob Ferris Consultancy was born out of lived experience, years of advocacy, and a deep commitment to creating safer, more inclusive spaces. My journey into LGBTQIA+ awareness, restorative justice, and nightlife protection wasn’t just a career choice—it was a necessity.
Growing up and working within LGBTQIA+ communities, I saw firsthand the gaps in safety, support, and understanding that left people vulnerable—whether it was discrimination in workplaces, the dangers of nightlife, or the failures in justice systems. I knew that meaningful change required more than just good intentions; it needed education, strategy, and action.
I’ve spent years working on policies that matter, from collaborating with Geraldine Hanna at the Commissioner for Victims of Crime to shape frameworks addressing violence against women and girls, to contributing to The Department of Health’s LGBTQIA+ healthcare strategy for transgender individuals. I’ve worked on hate crime legislation with Judge Marrinan’s team and co-designed complex needs training for restorative justice with world-renowned expert Tim Chapman. Each of these experiences reinforced my belief that justice, safety, and inclusion must go hand in hand.
The nightlife industry, in particular, has always been close to my heart. Queer spaces are more than just venues—they’re sanctuaries, lifelines, and homes for many. But they are also at risk. Through specialist training in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and harm reduction (including naloxone training), I help ensure that nightlife is not just vibrant, but also safe.
Jacob Ferris Consultancy exists because LGBTQIA+ people deserve better—better protection, better policies, and better understanding. My mission is to ensure that workplaces, communities, and nightlife venues aren’t just ticking diversity boxes but are actively building cultures of safety, respect, and belonging.
This isn’t just a job—it’s a fight for a world where nobody is left behind.

Core values
At Jacob Ferris Consultancy, integrity, inclusion, and impact are at the heart of everything I do. These core values shape every aspect of my work, from designing training programs to advising on policy and working directly with clients.
Safety & harm reduction
Everyone deserves to feel safe—whether in a workplace, a community space, or a nightlife venue. My consultancy prioritizes trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to harm reduction, conflict management, and safeguarding. This means equipping individuals and organizations with the tools to prevent harm, de-escalate tensions, and respond effectively when needed.
Inclusion & equity
True inclusion isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about structural change. I work with clients to move beyond surface-level diversity efforts and embed equitable, anti-discriminatory practices that foster real belonging. This means amplifying marginalized voices, challenging systemic barriers, and ensuring policies reflect the lived realities of LGBTQIA+ communities, survivors of violence, and other vulnerable groups.
Accountability & restorative justice
I believe in the power of repair—for individuals, communities, and institutions. My work in restorative justice is centered on accountability, dialogue, and meaningful change, ensuring that harm is acknowledged and addressed in ways that rebuild trust and prevent future harm.
Collaboration & empowerment
Real change happens when people work together. That’s why my consultancy is built on partnerships—with community leaders, advocacy groups, policymakers, nightlife venues, and frontline workers. I don’t impose solutions; I work alongside clients to co-create strategies that are both practical and sustainable.
Innovation & responsiveness
No two clients—or challenges—are the same. I take a dynamic, adaptable approach to consulting, responding to emerging issues in LGBTQIA+ rights, nightlife safety, and justice reform with forward-thinking, evidence-led solutions. From naloxone training to conflict resolution frameworks, from inclusive policy design to hands-on de-escalation techniques, I ensure that my work stays ahead of the curve.
